Our goal is to prove that even with Facebook privacy setting, they can still monitor our interests in order to promote advertisments. Each member of the group made a fake Facebook profile. One was stereotypically masculine, one stereotypically feminine, and the other two gender neutral. All profiles were twenty years old and attended the University of Oreogn. We then "liked" pages that would fit our stereotype. Then we tracked the advertisements that we received to see if our activity on Facebook affects the types of advertisements shown to us. We predicted we would be targeted by our gender, but we found out that our gender is only one factor among all our other activity on Facebook that is used to target us with ads.

We also looked into what is involved in creating an ad on Facebook and discovered that you are given the ability to target your audience very specifically.

To present our information, we made a powerpoint.
